1. Find the best vantage point
Make sure you have a good foreground and that people can clearly see the location you are shooting. Great examples of a good foreground can be roads or endless mountains.
As the best scenery shots are taken with wide lenses, you need a big area in front of you to help fill the photo.
2. Minimise the editing
Try not to over edit your photo’s – a great scenery photo should not require too much editing. Use HDR on your iPhone to get details from the High and Low exposures and then you can tweak contrast, brightness, saturation and detail on a photography app like Snapseed.
Don’t add too much drama to your picture or use too many filters to try and enhance the photo – neutral and very subtle editing usually helps a lot. Try using photography app VSCO cam filters to help enhance your photos, as its filters are very subtle and look great.
3. Try different angles
Try adjusting the height of your camera lens by shooting photos from your hip instead of the normal point and shoot from eye level. Another angle option is to shoot from a really low height like 5cm from the ground, or you could turn your camera upside down.
These angles appear interesting because the human eye is not trained to look at the world from those heights, so photos taken like this are always so fascinating to look at.
